Lancashire-based Carrington Textiles has donated £7,250 to Derian House Children’s Hospice. The donation will help allow Derian House to develop a range of specialist services, in addition to continuing its support for over 360 families in the North West who have a child with a life threatening or life limiting condition.
One of the largest workwear fabric manufacturers in Europe, Carrington raised the funds through several initiatives over the last year, which included charity raffles and events.
Carrington has supported Derian House for more than 15 years, raising almost £12,000 during that time. Jonathan McKendry, export sales and marketing manager at Carrington, who will present the charity with a cheque this week, said:
‘‘As a local business, it’s fantastic to be able to contribute to work that supports families in our local community, and further afield. Derian House has a fantastic spirit, providing an essential support framework for whole families, for as long as they need it. We feel hugely privileged to be able to support such a vital organisation.’’
Said Elaine Middleton, Corporate Fundraiser at Derian House:
“With only 7% of our funding coming from statutory sources, we are compelled to rely on our own fundraising efforts and the generosity of our friends in the wider community in order to reach our financial target, which this year stands at a daunting £3.95 million!
This incredibly generous donation from Carrington is a substantial contribution towards that target, and will help us to continue to provide much needed support for children, young people and their families throughout the North West.’’
