This outstanding garment has been designed to be used primarily by emergency services, specialist medical teams and paramedics, as well as specialist police units such as firearms operators and dog handlers. These would be worn for long periods at a time and will sometimes be put through punishing wear and tear.
The material Rig Equipment needed for this product had to be tough, durable yet still comfortable and easy to care for. And because the garment is required to be washed regularly at hot temperatures, the fabric selected needed to withstand washes with the minimal of colour fade.
Carrington Textiles’ Hudson rip-stop was the perfect solution for this garment as it offers all those properties and more.
Hudson is a 65% polyester and 35% cotton fabric, that is hardwearing and perfect for trousers or jackets, incorporating a ripstop in the weave for technical and aesthetic properties. Its moisture management finish provides excellent wicking performance for increased wearer comfort. This excellent fabric also offers UVPF protection as well as being Oeko-tex certified.
Ray Fomorsa, Managing Director of Rig Equipment, says: ‘Carrington were very helpful in assisting us with achieving the correct shade of green for our application. The price and lead times for manufacture of the fabric were very reasonable. The garment is being very well received by the emergency services personnel.’
