As part of the continued growth Carrington Textiles has been experiencing in recent years, the leading UK manufacturer of workwear fabrics has appointed a new Managing Director and Sales Director who join their positions with innovative ideas to keep driving the business forward.
Has progressed from Sales Director to MD, has been part of the UK textile manufacturing sector for 27 years-with his last 8 being part of Carrington Textiles, driving the sales activity forward.
After completing a degree in Marketing at Lancaster University in 1992, Neil joined Coats Viyella on their graduate training programme.
Neil said: 'My initial role was in marketing, but I soon realised I had a passion for sales and dealing with customers'.
He spent the next 18 years within the coating and laminating field, primarily on filament woven products. In 2011 Neil made the move into natural fibres and joined Carrington Textiles as Sales Director, taking over the role from current CEO John Vareldzis.
Neil added: 'The last eight years have seen us make enormous strides forward in terms of our market share, quality and product innovation, without losing any of our flexibility, customer focus and motivation to be the supplier of choice in the industry'.
Outside of work, father of two Neil spends as much time as possible with his family, as well as trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle through sports like squash and racketball. `I have completed six marathons in the last four years. My ultimate goal is to complete an Ironman but I need to learn to swim first and to buy a bike!'
Replacing Neil as the leader of a 22 strong team including the sales, marketing and product development departments, is Paul Farrell, Carrington’s new Sales Director. His 30 years of experience in sales & marketing started within paper manufacturing and distribution with some of the world’s leading manufacturers. Paul started in customer service and sales roles, developing new customer relationships and managing the delivery of existing sales, learning his profession from the ground up. After that he held a number of UK, European and international sales & marketing roles in the paper industry, transitioning to textiles in 2014.
Paul said: 'In many respects, paper manufacturing is similar to that of textiles, processing a fibre into a finished product and, as such, it’s been something of a natural move into this sector!'
Upon leaving paper, Paul joined Simon Jersey as Sales & Marketing Director, a UK based designer and distributor of corporate wear into the hospitality, health and travel sectors worldwide. A great way to learn the workwear space and transition to Carrington Textiles.
'I’ve joined Carrington Textiles following a prolonged period of growth and will strive to inspire continued business success, taking over the position from Neil Davey as he transitions to Managing Director'.
Paul describes himself as an avid sports fan, with a passion for mountain biking. Living in South Manchester gives Paul access to some of the best trails in the UK of which he's happy to take advantage.
Carrington Textiles would like to welcome Neil and Paul to their new roles and wish them great success as they settle in their new positions.
